Katarina Wit began skating at five years old. She was able to prove her skill and was accepted into the Karl-Marx-Stadt Special School for gifted kids. This was where she was introduced to their coach Jutta Muller. Witt was able to make her debut year in 1982 after she came second in the World Championships held in Copenhagen. Following that, she started dominating the sport with her elegance and grace. Olympic success Katarina (now Witt) was awarded the Figure Skating Gold Medal during Sarajevo in the Sarajevo Winter Games.
